Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist

The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and other ministries and works of Catholic people, are bound together and oriented toward the Holy Eucharist.

At Mass, the bread and wine is changed into the total Jesus Christ, body and blood, soul and divinity. Holy Communion unites us intimately with Jesus Christ, separates us from sin, and unites us with other members of the Catholic Church.

Who can receive the eucharist?

Catholics believe and profess with their "Amen" at the reception of the Eucharist that it is truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ.

Only baptized Catholics who have received their First Communion, are practicing the faith, and are not aware of having committed mortal (serious) sins since their last confession may receive the Holy Eucharist.

Ways to receive at our parish

There are two options for receiving the Eucharist during one of our Masses.

On the hand: You may come forward in the communion line and receive the Holy Eucharist onto your hand.

On your tongue: If you would prefer to receive the Holy Eucharist at the communion rail, please come forward as the communion line is finishing and kneel at the rail as space is available.   You may also receive on the tongue in the communion line.

If you are unable to come forward in the communion line, please get the attention of the minister of Holy Communion as they go around the church with Jesus.  Low gluten hosts are available by talking to the priest or deacon prior to Mass.

For information on receiving First Holy Communion, please visit the Religious Education Youth page here.

For Communion to the homebound, please contact the parish office at 715-223-3048.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

If you cannot receive the Eucharist today:

My Jesus, I believe that You are truly present in the Holy Eucharist.  I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul.  Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.  Never permit me to be separated from You.  Amen.
